[size=6][/sizeFirst of all, our team from I Love Produce (Neil, Eric and myself) had a great time as usual last Tuesday at Fat Cat. I only wish we lived close enough to make it more often. Victor, thanks for running a fun event!
So here is my question about a rule that came up during the tourney.
Rob and I were playing Sean and Danny. Rob attempted a pass from his 5 bar to his 3 bar along the far wall, and Sean trapped the ball against the wall, and in the process of doing so snapped the man in half. As a result, the ball trickled through and landed softly on Rob's 3-bar.
Play was stopped, and after some discussion it was determined the ball would belong to Sean on his 5-bar after the repair was made.
This seamed like a double penalty on us, because not only did we lose possession on the 3-rod, but we lost the possession altogether through no fault of our own.
Logically speaking, breaking a man against the wall would also cause a jar. But because it was such a surprising action, and the ball ended up on Rob's 3-bar, I never considered calling one.
If we had the wherewithal to call a jar under these circumstances, would that have meant the ball on our five-rod instead of on Sean's 5-rod?
Just curious what the foos community thinks on this....
By the way, Rob was great last week in all facets of the game, plus a great partner - thanks Rob!

I’m not sure about the current rules, maybe Jerry can chime in, but here’s what I know.
One, you cannot jar yourself.
Two, if there’s a mechanical failure the ball remains where the failure occurred.
What if this happened in goal... you block someone but the man breaks and the ball dribbles in. I witnessed this with Robby Mares once. He took a shot from the 3bar, the goalie blocked the shot but the man proceeded to snap in half and the ball rolled in. Robby was quick to point out this rule, the ball goes to the goalie. This happened a long time ago.
I stand by the call made.

Thanks for the analysis Victor, what you explained makes total sense.
