Jim, your reasoning is correct.

I guess it's personal, I saw Tina about 7-10 days before I got the news that she was gone. we had kept in touch over the years, and it was very shocking.

Tina was just a friend never any man woman relationship or anything,I just respected her.

Tina and I won a Mixed event and got third in the same Tournament in Open Doubles in Deadwood South Dakota, in about 1999, I believe.

So I just felt close to her, and feel she is the winningest Lady Fooser from Colorado and should be the first Woman Inducted into the Colorado hall of fame.

Sometimes human Emotion should trump Human reasoning or Logic, or am I just eccentric in this area.

I agree with you Roger. I never thought about it from the 1st Woman inducted aspect but Tina would definitely be worthy of that distinction. Human emotion and sentiment is very important in my book. Either way, she will not be held in any less regard for those that knew her.

Since you are on the Colorado Committee,Tim, What is with not putting Tina in the Colorado hall of fame this year?

Roger to be honest with you I was only on that committee last year and was not part of it this year. I also agree with you about Tina just because I had never heard of this Vicky person before (which doesn't mean anything). The committee now is headed up by Mike B, Todd L and Robbie (since they know the history of the state). There are a ton of great players from this area over the past 40 plus years and I'm sure they will all get into the COF in good time.

Also I don't want the Colorado Foosball hall of Fame to be confused with any Colorado State Tournaments they are two separate deals.

Thanks

Ok , So that explains Vicky, who should not be inducted first, into the CHOF!

Mike B. I can see as a committee member, maybe Todd?, Robbie has been here for about 12 years I believe, not a committee member in my opinion.

There's no way he could know Colorado Foosball better than people who grew up here.
Robbie's Achievement's in Foosball are Amazing!!,and worthy of the U.S. hall of Fame, and his representation of the U.S.A. in World cup play is magnificent.

In no way is the Hall of Fame one in the same with Colorado Tournaments, I think that is clear.

I started playing around 1998 I think, and Robbie was a master back then, so he's definitely been here longer than 12 years, Roger.

I don't try to understand the committee in any way. I don't really think it's fair that they moved players out of rookie and AM, yet kept the players who went pro, but got reset back into expert, still as expert, all because IFP is whacked. If the main goal of rankings is to group players of similar skill...then the players who went pro, deserve to play with their peers. Points are very accurate the more you tour, and these are touring players who magically keep staying expert thanks to Mary. Committee should work on that as long as their in the moving players around business!

As long as Todd and Bowers is on the committee, I would think they would have everything covered. I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing up players and ideas to "the committee" though. It was probably an oversight. Definitely seems like Tina should go in this year with a tribute since she passed away. Can you imagine Robbie passing away, and nothing is mentioned at that year's CO State tourney? lol (Someone is going to take that the wrong way, I'm sure...just using an example).

Roger there is a lot more then just being on committee that Robbie does for the CHOF. He loves Colorado and gives up a ton of his own time to organize events for the CHOF. Really if I think about it the only two people I know that know foos from the 60's & 70's era are Bowers & Todd (I'm sure there's more).

I loved talking with Tina all the time when I had a chance and honestly I couldn't tell you what she has or hasn't won on tour but I'm sure she has some great wins under her belt. It might be because she was more of an 80's player and they are going in order?

Not saying Robbie has not been a Pro or a Master for a long time. My Brother and I played Robbie and his partner in about 94'or 95' in a Major, My Brother and I were both Pro's at the time, I forget where, he and his partner beat us.

I guess it just struck a chord to say that Robbie knows more about Colorado Foosball then people who grew up here.

No one said Robbie knew more. They just said he's part of the group that decides who should be eligible for our HOF. He's our most touring master, so he definitely sees the sport globally compared to most of us. He should pretty much be a part of any committee if he's up for it.

If you're going to question people, question Jerry Todd (talk about new)...or Sheri and tommy (can't remember if they grew up foosing here or OK) or Baller (who wants a weakburger backpack deciding HOFers?).

I think a lot of people forget how much work this all is. No one is getting paid to throw these weekly tourneys and have discussions about HOF and points, etc. It's easy to complain or critique, but I'm pretty sure they would welcome your thoughts if you kept in the loop....or welcome your work if you volunteered to organize and run things. That would give you more of a say.

We didn't even have a HOF until last year, and given how many legends CO has produced...it's going to be a long time before any of us sees anyone we know up there. Especially if they all require open major wins as a qualifier!

I like how TX does it - TX Legends. Anyone who contributes to the scene might be worthy. Not just players who already are in the national HOF.

My 2014 CO Legends nominees: Mr Foos and T.U.B.

I completely recognize how much work goes into tournaments, and my hat's off to all who run them weekly and yearly!
I have helped set up and do maintenance in large Tournaments since the 1980's, that's not running them but I totally understand how much work it takes!

I guess I was venting a bit at how much crap I was given by supporting 404.

It really would be beneficial to be at the meeting Saturday if you're planning on coming. If not, I know that Robby, or Bowie would be more than happy to answer any questions. Last year it was brought to my attention that Colorado is long overdue for a Hall of Fame. We did our best to get it started and hopefully will continue for years to come. History, the Almanac, and discussion (mainly about chronological order and qualifications) concerning who should be inducted was considered in the decision making. I want to assure you that the decisions and inductee order was not taken lightly.

We have a very rich foosball history in Colorado and hopefully the future HOF inductions will reflect that very well.
I know that the committee needs to develop into players who have a good knowledge of past and present players and can give solid facts and opinions to help in deciding on the nominees.

The reason that Tim, Tommy and I were involved was because we were the TDs for Colorado State and needed to start somewhere. I am sure that last years and this years nominees are very solid decisions.

To answer the question about Tommy and myself. I am a Colorado native and started playing in 1987. Tommy started playing in Oklahoma City when he was young and moved to CO in 1985. We don't know many of the players from the 70's and early 80's. Jerry was the first person to bring to my attention the HOF and put many hours of his time into research and organizing last years HOF.

I hope this helps

Roger, if you want to ditch America's to go be the Gupmaster at the 404, that's your right!

I guess it's not scene killing if a tourney is on the same night of a TSK tourney.

My bad.

I am not the King of The Gup's, CJ is the King of 404 this week, well CJ and Cassi!
Good Tourny last Night, 9 or 10 teams, I think.

Myself and my partner got 3rd place, I believe Zack and Jordan got 2nd.

Never heard of any of those foosers so you're right 404 is their own little tourney that couldn't possibly pull any foosers that may have attended the other Thursday tourney.

Once again, my bad.

Just out of curiosity - do the players at the 404 like it when pros come and dominate them?

Sounds like when Spear played at the Attic. It was basically "who's going to draw Spear??"

Just wondering...because they have their own private thing going, and here come all the pros to take their money and smack them around the table. Can't imagine that would be fun, but I dunno...

This is exactly what I said.

I actually hit this tourney when I'm in the area. I will never ever play it though.
I just like what these guys are doing and want to help them any way I can.

I have not seen very much improvement from these beginners by playing the higher ranked people. That is kinda disappointing to me.

Many of them have improved from when I first saw them. We started a Training program a while back it didn't go so well.

most of these players are content to just take their time getting better.

They absolutely like to learn from better players. Anyone that wants to stop by, they would absolutely appreciate that.

I didn't play for the first few months because I didn't want to just dominate, but they wanted me to play in the tournaments, because they knew the only way to get better was not just playing pickup games against me and others. But by playing in a tournament setting.

there are usually anywhere between 7-12 teams and most of these players you have never heard of. So yes they have a good thing going there and they are content to slowly get better.
