For anyone that knows JK, he was in a motorcycle accident tonight. He broke both legs, a hip and fractured his jaw. Please send him some love.
I think you all know how much he means to me and how much I hate bikes. I'm glad it's not worse but PLEASE be aware of bikers on the road around you. They are still out.

Awful news. Hope the recovery goes well, JK.
Yeah, I'm in the bikes are horrible camp too. All it takes is one bad moment, and your life is in danger. And even if you're the safest biker in the world, you still can't control other people's dumb actions on the road. Car vs. biker = biker loses 100% of the time. |

Out of all the young ones who gave up the game to soon, IMO, JK had the most talent.
Get well JK. |

Rippin, yes fooser from past...
He's at Medical Center of Aurora South. Right now his family is asking for no visitors. He's heavily medicated with a tube in is his throat. He severed both femeral arteries so he's extremely lucky to be alive. He was already in surgery for 12 hours after the accident. He goes back in for surgery on Monday to fix his jaw and other broken bones in his face. Looks like he's going to need several more surgeries after that one.
I appreciate the kind words. If you all could keep him in your thoughts and keep sending him positive energy, I would be forever grateful.

I have always wished there were roads designated for bicycles and motorcycles use only. It's upsetting to continually hear stories of people getting hurt by careless drivers.
Hoping for nothing but good luck and things like that during his recovery.

Hoping for nothing but good luck and things like that during his recovery. This has nothing to do with JK's incident but let's not forget that careless things are done by people on bikes and motorcycles as well. Can't tell you how many times I've been passed on the highway by a motorcyclist doing a wheelie!

You are right Jim. Like life and foos there is always two sides.
It is usually the bicycle riders which ignore the rules of the road here in FOCO. Kids get seriously hurt every year here on bicycles. It frustrating to see bicyclist ride in the bicycle lane right next to white line and cars, rather then close to the curb. Then the inexperienced riders look over their left shoulder, which naturally veers their bicycle left into the car lane.

The latest update: JK is in surgery today on his left leg again as his femur was completely shattered. They are trying to clean out any debris to help fight any possible infection. Apparently when fixing jaws they usually take bone from the femur but they might have to go a different route since one is shattered and the other is broken. They will keep him in surgery as long as possible to work on everything they can as long as his stress levels are ok. As of this morning, his blood pressure was normal with no fever. And his brain functions are normal too so thats a good sign. I will try to keep updating here as I find out any new news.
Boogie, I will definitely let you know when visitors are ok. Right now with him going through multiple surgeries I think its best we leave room for direct family. And yes he has a fiance and a beautiful baby girl. It kills me to know he is going through this. His fiance has been incredibly strong during this trying time, so please everyone, keep her and the baby in your thoughts as well.
