Not trying to imply TSK and Baller need help, but thought since we’re so far in advance, I would start this thread to come up with ideas to making CO State better than last year in case they want to adopt these suggestions.

I’ll start:

1. Instead of Handicapped singles, make it handicapped Super Doubles. Winners of each doubles event play in Super doubles main event. Example: Beg Dubs champ plays Rookie Dubs Champ. Winner Plays AM Dubs Champ. Winner plays Expert Dubs champ. Winner plays Women’s Dubs champ. Winner plays PD Champ. Winner plays OD Champ. One Game, Race to 7. High tension since games are handicapped. More or less the same as handicapped championship singles, but you eliminate an entire event that will cause conflicts.

2. A couple of pickup game tables on the upper level. I know tables are at a premium, but it’s nice to have a couple tables players could play games at and not be forced to be kicked off.

3. Open Finals players get to pick out their own walk out songs. Not the Rocky theme song. lol

4. Don’t stop all matches for anything but the HOF ceremony.

5. Boogie color commentates with Jim Stevens. Serious here – Inside Foos videos are cool, but having boogie there with brutal honesty and stand up would be awesome must have DVD’s.

Just my suggestions!

That first idea is kick ass!!!!

And yes, TSK and Baller need lots of help, just nobody can provide that help unfortunately.

Oh yeah, don't have an event start Saturday afternoon and finish at 6 am on Monday.

Along the lines...maybe really try to make finishing the Fri night DYP a priority. It sucked watching so many players bail out of the huge DYP because they couldn't stick around all weekend.

Don't let Ken Oda call matches.

The doubles idea sounds alright until you think about how you have to wait for every doubles event to complete BEFORE starting the super doubles up.

"Just in from Co. State: Superdoubles crowned a pair of champs, however- two classifications were not included in the tourney, as they were not played out yet...

Plus, handicapped singles last years was fun as hell and exciting...just ask Ross, going meatnut with tony spredeman....

Yeah, that's true.

I don't think ED, PD, or OD was finished until Monday Morning last year.

But part of that WAS handicapped singles being double elimination, and the hour + halt on foosball on the last day for HOF and handicapped finals.

Well the original handicapped singles was indeed fun and exciting. I still say make it a race to 7 though. Obviously it's too easy for the high masters to win when it's Ryan vs Tony in the finals.

1. Keep smacking down the silly talk of changing CO state dates or moving it to Vegas... (X and Boogie doing a good job on this)

2. Seek sponsors for the "Main Event" now, this could be Tornado, Warrior, New Belgium, Coors, hell it could be Draft Kings (sponsored Billy on day 7) or even ESPN...who knows. etc etc. Something that could make 1st place worth $10,000 or more. Thinking a $15K-20K payout for that event only. It is already scheduled to start Friday and end Saturday which means if it is made the priority that Billy could play in it then head to Vegas rock star style if he wanted. Shelly has already dealt locally with ESPN Radio, so getting ESPN to show up for some footage might be very doable. That kind of cash would allow entries to be low so more masters might show up for it. Maybe Adkisson, Rico might think a $10K prize is worth a US trip...

3. Staying on top of calling matches...I know it is a thankless job, but there are always serious delays that are completely avoidable allowing someone an extra 30 minute break or 2 early in a bracket probably leads to losing hours at the completion of the bracket by the end of the weekend. Sounds like we should have 40 tables this year, hope that covers it.

4. A max event or no conflict requirement on players

I just realized the flyer is already out. DuuUuur.

Oh well. Maybe some changes can still be made if they don't impact things.

Still think 2/3 Championship singles blows because it really does give the best player more chances to win....and it would be a more thrilling event if it wasn't the top masters playing in the end.

Ken was awful.

It took a lot of people a couple days to correct the fact that he only called matches from the top of matches listed screen and never ever scrolled down.

If you think he did great. It would have been much greater without him.

This year is gonna be insane though. So many people. The turnout is gonna be better then at least 2 of the 3 majors.

Chris may be on to something...

I doubt Billy would want to spend a long time here waiting for matches to happen, since he needs to rest his mind and body for the WSOP.
But what if he was simply in some sort of winner take all exhibition against Ryan or Tony? ESPN could plunk down 10k...that's a drop in the bucket to that juggernaut. Hell, it doesn't have to be fair regarding Billy's opponent, so who cares if it's Rico, Tony or Ryan...just someone equally awesome. The point is that ESPN could use this as a back story to generate more interest in their WSOP, and ostensibly generate some interest in foosball.
It could be 2/3 or 3/5, who gives a rat's ass...something that viewers could enjoy...maybe even make a rule that the roller or euro can only be attempted once a game or something....whatever it takes to hold the attention of poker players and viewers.

Jim Stevens and Boogie could be commentators, making $7.50 an hour...while Stuart Scott gets paid a grand to say "That 5 bar pass was as cool as the other side of the pillow."

Boo yeah!
