Top 4 when I left were Dustin/Schrunk I think sitting KS, Ross/Jack waiting for winner of Davin/Kadri and Roger/Bruce.

Sounds like Dustin and Schrunk won but he will have to let you know the placings.

I think this is the basis for all the debating lately. "All of these people I know personally with rook/am points are really not rook/ams, but all the players in the rook/am brackets that I don't know certainly are and would have no chance at MY local tourney." It's the No True Scotsman fallacy.

All of this leads to 2 conclusions:
1. Ratings don't mean jack except on the 5-10 days of the year when you play a package at a tour stop.
2. This sport is played one ball at a time, one rod at a time. Score 5 first and you win no matter who you are.

By the way, these were the top 4, with IFP points for those who are curious:

1. Gatliff (1004) and Schrunk (1300)
2. Roger (2600) and Bruce (1300)
3. Ross (2610) and Jack (1862)
4. Davin (1323) and Kadri (600)

Experts go back an forth against experts, but can beat pros and masters and lose to AM's here and there.
Pros go back and forth against pros, but can beat masters and lose to experts and rarely AM's.
AM's go back and forth against AM's, and occasionally beat experts.
Rookies battle with rookies, and rarely beat Experts or Pros.

Rookies should not compete with high experts/pros!

That's how ratings should work. The only time they don't work is when big tourneys don't turn in points or a player doesn't tour rated tourneys...and that's when the occasional player slips through the cracks.

You're never going to convince me it was cool to play rooks, but so what. I think you're a good player, and am glad we have a great new fooser on the scene! Lord knows Jim wasn't ever going to become one :-P
