Good job on the win! Now go play in AM where you belong, sandbagger!

Truth be told, you would have won that final I watched even though you dont have a five either!

And Scott, you know you would have posted the minute you got home with a win on that little six team night..... But instead it was Jim instaposting that night. Now quit picking on Dustin for overcompensating and get back to drooling over Ross.

Congrats on the win though.

Those guys could have got 3rd at least in Avon, unless Angelo showed up.

And fukin stamina. Then Dustin wouldn't have an Amateur Doubles title jacket and we wouldn't be having any discussions here.

You, me, Knappy, and Heather lost to that Canadian Pro, Craig Williams in amateur dubs at Mary's Warrior Colorado State 3 years ago. He also won beginners then in the infamous "that's bullshitta", spoken by a true beginner Jorge's wife Laura. How did he get to play amateur again in Vegas, which he won?

If Dustin is accurate then I'm sure either one of those second place rookies would walk into Americas and take two sets from Champ.

I know buddy.

Dustin hasn't been part of the Colorado foos family for long enough to know when to take his ribbings gracefully. City should be giving him sandbagger ethics classes.

You should probably check who the rookies/ams 5 years ago were. You might eat these words. Kind of inclined to agree with Scott (who will always be a rook) and City (who I think was an Am. 5 years ago)

No kidding.

Every year there are ringers in each rank. When I first started playing, it was Boogie(Boogie’s 5 row was about 1 notch below what it is now about 15 years ago in rookie). Then me. Then Sticky and Madej. Then Bear. Then City (lmao jk). Then Princess. Etc…right on through Brubaker and Ross. We were all beating experts and pros occasionally then too.

There is absolutely no difference between lower ranks now and back then when it comes to players who take this game seriously.

I would like to think the whole purpose of creating Rookie and Beginner ranks was to give lesser skilled players a chance to win more against their peers, thus growing the player base. It wasn’t to give expert caliber players who weren’t rated correctly a chance to drop down and take all their money. Dropping down 1 rank is going to happen, but playing 2 ranks below your skill set is the equivalent of Boogie/Roger/Ross/Brubaker/Daniel dropping down to play AM. Sure they might run into a hot team, or some slop, but for the most part, they are going to roll the brackets.

I’ve never been a big fan of the “Well so-and-so did it, so I will to”. Just because a few other players who had no business playing rookies were in there too, doesn’t mean that’s okay. I’m not singling anyone one player out…I’m an equal opportunity hater. This discussion is more about touring in general.

There are some players out there who abide by the “if the TD lets you…” mantra. Well sometimes I just think common sense or taking the road less travelled is the way to go. What about the times when Euro ranked pros come here and destroy the rookies? It’s just not in the spirit of the game. If they get off on beating up a bunch of weakos, then good for them I guess. Some could blame the system, but I think we’re all in control of our own actions.

That said, winning any event is an accomplishment, and gives you tons of experience on winning

This!

Okay, here's the new Colorado gauge for your tour event rank:

If your regular weekly tournament is:

Boulder=Beginner

Avon=Rookie

Colorado Springs=Amateur

Paco=Epert

America's and BC's=BAMF's!!!!!

(Nick has not been rated so as not to dilute last category to sub-Boulder)

Breaking news, as leaked yesterday:

It is confirmed that Tim Brahier has a broken thumb and cannot play foos.

On a related note:

Nobody has noticed a difference in his game.

The weekly $5 has been missed.

Beg 1
Rook 2
Am 3
Ex 4
Pro 5
Elite 6
PM 7

If a vet TD would give their players a true ranking, you could figure in pt value for each tourney.

Say Boogie took first at BC's for the 5pts and the average ranking was a 3. That would be 3x5 for 15pts for that week. Then say Paco took first at Avon and the players ranking averaged a 2, that would be 2x5 for 10pts at Bobs that week. It would be a "Strength of Tourney pt adjustment" Be cool for Colorado to start throwing out the first advanced stats in the game.

It would take an active player/TD at each tourney though to provide a somewhat accurate ranking, which requires throwing all bias out the window. Also for like a true beg would be a 1, as they improve they become a 1.1/1.4/1.9 then move up to Rook. Etc for each rank.

A lot of foosers though, seem to like subjective banter over a more objective number. Plus some feel it is to much paperwork.

BC's= easy money.

This thread= sucks rookie balls.

Dustin= don't listen to anyone that said you shouldn't have played either rookie event, shit, you already dumped rookie singles for what reason I don't know. Shit, when mary Moore moved me to expert I fucking doubled in expert, was playing for fourth or better to TRIPLE, and still only made $26 dollars.

It makes me laugh when someone is like "aww man, you should chose not to play, for the dignity of the....DIGNITY? Of this fuckin circus? Lmfao...what about the dozen Canadian pro's that were playing rookie? They are like "fuck that shit, I dropped 2 grand on this tourney..."

Then, during talks about who to watch out for in rookie singles, Dustin's name comes up...someone mentions he took Robbie down twice at a local, some of the Canadians are like "oh shit"- but then one of them says "don't have to worry about Dustin, eh- his locals gave him a guilt trip about playing rookie singles and now he is going to forfeit..." Then they all LAUGHED out loud and said "there a boat a bunch of self righteous COONTS, EH?....

then Dustin was unable to double, and all was well in Canada. The end.

Answer: No money paid in Rookie Singles.

Question: Why then pay money in Rookie Doubles? If it was only for trophies, then no under ranked players at all.

Rookie was set up for upper level beginners so that beginners could truly be about beginners to foosball.

My opinion: above those two categories, seed and re-seed as is seen fit. There will always be controversy there. And stop paying so much in amateur. Move that money to upper classes. There is no way amateur should pay as much or more as the higher classes, I don't care if they have 100 or more players. Lower rank any sport does not pay even close to the higher rank divisions. Pay top finishing lower rank teams, down to amateur, a bit in each category as incentive. Top finishing rookies and beginners only get medals. No incentive to stay. Move up for cash chances.

That was my point, the Canadians clearly had some rookie players who were right there with Dustin (competing with experts) when you look at their overall results. I don't think they should have been there either.

I mean, don't you KNOW what your skill level is? It's not like you just walk into a tournament, and dominate other good players out of the blue. You know from all your wins, practice sessions, weekly results, what kind of player you are. Those Canadian guys probably competed with the Canadian experts and pros on a regular basis and dropped by Vegas to cash in against noobs.

There's a lot more Boogie mindsets than mine out there. Tony even posted he'd play down a few levels if they let him. I get it for sure, just don't agree. Now you're going go have true rooks questioning touring - why bother touring as a new player, when you're just going to run into experts?

PS - huge props to Dustin for bowing out of RS btw. Honestly, this is more a discussion of principle here.

Once again this whole thread has gone jokey!

Dustin says "I WON'T PLAY ROOK SINGLES BECAUSE IT'S NOT FAIR TO REAL ROOKIES!"

But

Since there's $500 for winning rook doubles I'm going to play that.

Play them both because you are a rook and think it's ok or don't play either because it's unfair. One way or the other! You can't let greed for the old mighty dollar change who you are.

Let me help you understand where I'm coming from. I don't give a fuck if anybody played in those events. Just play them or don't play them this on the fence bullshit is JOKEY!
