I disagree with you Scott. Each ranking class is stagnating cause no one can move out of each class with the current points system. So each rank is getting tougher instead of players getting tougher and moving up. You are thinking like the system that you played in still applies when you toured. No one can move out of their rank now. So the field as a whole is getting tougher.

What are you disagreeing with me about?

Tell me the last 3 times a rookie, or AM team even, has won on a Friday night.

Jorge and I did it when Jorge was still ranked AM... that's one.

CJ/Tink snapped the Turkey. Does that count? He uses pt repellent.

Does Susan Longasslastname play in the locals here?

Not buying it!

Maybe after he went expert, and it was a low turnout.

And no, CJ/Tink doesn't count because they are both experts, and that's a DYP, not a BYP. Were you guys both AM's when you won that?

I know Jim/Tim won it once in a 6 team night. Not saying it can't be done, but it's a once a year kinda deal, if that.

Slice won it playing forward with Aaron Harris. Matter of fact, Jim had the top pt avg that night of the 4 weeks I kept stats. With the demand resets, Aaron could have been ranked Am. at the time. Low turnout.

I watched that rook dubs final and it was almost as painful as watching womens events. The only thing good on that table was our guys 3 bar and our goalies defense. I dont think I saw one completed pass from either 5. Congrats on the win but that shit doesn't stand a chance in avon, at least the team you guys were playing doesn't.

Congrats on the win though.

I'm with Davin on this one. Every rank has grown and 'rookies/amateurs' today are nothing like they were 5 years ago. With all the new learning resources at everyone's fingertips, videos left and right on YouTube, multiple online forums, InsideFoos videos, more international players traveling, and whatever else I forgot to mention, the sport's evolved. Add to that the stagnation that Davin mentioned and you get some pretty good players stuck in the lower ranks.

If there were a direct translation between a player's skill set and the number of IFP points they've earned, I'd agree that the rookie and amateur fields probably wouldn't be too strong, but unfortunately IFP points have nothing to do with a player's abilities on the table. My last IFP event before Vegas was Ohio State 2009. I was the kind of rookie you describe and my ranking was honestly pretty accurate. After 5 years of practice and experience but no rated touring, I'm a completely different player but with the same points as if I'd never touched a table between then and now.

The rookie/am fields at Vegas weren't filled with your textbook rookies and ams. They were filled with hard working players that happened to have rookie and am points in Mary's system. And if you ask anybody who played at Vegas whether or not some of the rooks/ams could make a splash at our local BYP, nearly all of them would give you a "hell yes". People that stayed home would say (as I mistakenly thought), "how hard could it be? It's rookie/am!"

Half the people who read this might say I'm full of shit, but that rookie dubs title was ten times harder to win than the am dubs title at CO State. The other half went to Vegas.

Yeah thanks a lot Dustin. FU! 😁

Seriously though, don't try to belittle Colorado State to justify your rookie status at Vegas. Not fair.

Promoters need to work together to make sure that amateur tour winners don't get to play in rookie events. A little birdie told me that there were at least 2 amateur title jacket holders in that rookie doubles.

There were more than 6 teams, maybe not much more, but we did beat Ross and Sherman 8-7 3rd game after they won a title, and we double dipped you and Kraus so nuff said!

I think Dustin should convince Phil Olson to stay in town through the weekend and go play BC's together on Friday and win that easy money for some extra travel expense.

Here's what I know: City's post made me laugh hardest, and I would like to nominate it for comedic post of the year. Dan, it's too bad you didn't watch the match to the end. The dude literally had a pile of batting gloves that he was recycling as they accumulated perspiration. I mean, at least 20 pairs of gloves...

"While he was in Vegas"

Yeah, you can take that tip of the hat and stick it.

Way to go cashing at BC's while Ross was away...lol

Does the participation ribbon talk have you all riled up?...I'll stop...

No, I was just joking...Ross being so generous to everyone for stepping out of state so we can all cash on Fridays. Hopefully he tours more often!

Ross did better in dubs than singles in Vegas so that makes him an official back pack.
Maybe he needs me to carry him to cash this Friday. Hmmmmm.

I have that many gloves in my " donate to my youth clinics pile" and I did watch just to see if i could get dropped from pro to rookie and compete, and I choose to stay retired because I dont take bets from the kids at my youth clinics..

Great win though

Hope you graduate out of youth clinic golf soon City and get out here for some real golf!

Great win though in the 9-12 year old class.

Congrats on the win Dustin! You're right buddy, people put a lot more practice in when touring and the competition is stiffer at a Major. I think that, plus the shift of AM to low expert (due to the Trashies and the like lurking in the rank) makes your win well deserved. Plus Phil probably is a true rookie.

Don't let these guys make you feel like you have to justify yourself by making the bold accusations that your win was against Eck's caliber players and all, in Rookie! Just grin and wear your jacket!

Good job on the win! Now go play in AM where you belong, sandbagger!
