It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of an amazing friend and fierce foosball competitor. Scott "Bear" Jensen passed away on Sunday, March 26th. Details on services will follow. Please keep his family in your thoughts, hearts and prayers. Please be respectful of the family's need for privacy at this difficult time. I will post follow up information as it becomes available.

RIP brother

Whoa, what?

What happened?

This is sad and shocking news. My condolences to Bear's family and foos family. I know that Bear played mostly before I started back again but any time I played either with him or against him he was always awesome and helpful with any advice or help you would need.
I know he was a good friend of yours EA and I'm truly sad for your loss too.

Thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace brother.

Sad news. Bear gave me some great tips early on. Then at my first major my buddy and I had to play Bear and City first round in rookie doubles when they were a top seed favorite for the event. Ask city about the match and crowd.

RIP Scott.

This is heartbreaking news. My prayers and condolences go out to Bear's family and friends.

I was lucky to win a semi pro title with Bear in Tulsa and he was one of the best teammates a player could ever want to compete with. I know many of you that have won titles and/or simply partnered with Bear would agree.

Bear was a 'model fooser' if there could ever be such a thing. All focus, no drama, no cheating, all respect, fun/friendly, a student and generous teacher of the game and always gracious in victory or defeat. Always improving and never regressing.

Nobody wanted to play against Bear in a bracket, nobody. He was too solid and if you did draw him you better execute in the 90-100% range because you know he would be as well.

As a rookie Bear would push the best players such as Tom Spear to his limits and even grabbed a big win off Tom ever so often. Shortly thereafter Bear was seen playing goalie for Tom at the BYP (imagine that, no surprise). As Bear progressed he just asserted himself as one of the Top players in CO at the time.

Bear was always so efficient on another level. Great guy to be around. RIP Bear you're the man and you'll be greatly missed by everyone.

Sad news for sure !

I remember when Bear first came on the foos scene ... it was at "Blues" Tavern down south .... I remember showing him the simple basics of foosball ... and less than a year later ... he was destroying me (and almost everyone else at the table) ....... he had a passion for foosin for sure ... and put a lot of table time in to play at a very high level in a short amount of time ... We Won 2 Colorado State Foosball Titles together (at Pinkies in Aurora, and at The Cue).... and I still have the 2 trophies in my room (and Jackets in my closet) ....and still often think of winning foosball titles with him.... I will always have a piece of him in my closet (and on my shelf)

RIP Bear !!

Great posts Leo and Greg.

I am sick to my stomach still over this news.

I met Bear at the Breakroom, and for the longest time, he was all goalie, and shot an open handed push. His forward game sucked, so he just sat back in goal slapping at the ball with his push...and started to master the defensive principles to shut people down.

Eventually, he decided to study the forward position...and still kept with the push...but finally switched to the roller. He practiced and studied the game like any obsessed fooser who knows there's a right and wrong way to winning. In no time it all, it seemed like he was dominating rooks, and then semis, and soon keeping up with the pros and masters. His defense was always formidable, so he was always getting tons of extra posessions, which he used to develop a really nasty 5 bar series. He was a force as a forward and goalie, and a great competitor and good sport.

I never really knew why he stopped playing.

It's always tough to hear about a member of the foos family going away....but this one really hits close to home for a lot of us because he was such a staple of Denver foos for years.

This sucks.

Bear, I think, is one of the few foosers I seen, go from beginner to pro. I think he got some of his foos start at JD Bait Shop. Still remember stopping at the BreakRoom and seeing Bear working and working on this flip off the back wall, that he was going to turn into a percentage shot. :). Kid was nothing but nice to me from the first time I met him in 97 or 98.

....Ohhh ..... for all you young folk .....
Blues = Breakroom
(it was "Blues Tavern" before it was called the "Breakroom")
I'm just dating myself ! (it was Blues a long time ago )
(I think it was already called the Breakroom when Scott arrived on the foos scene )

More Bear memories....

Have you ever seen anybody more proud of their Jacket? Man Bear never took that thing off did he? He just pulled his sleeves up to his elbow at minimal but NEVER took that Jacket off. Honestly I can't remember him wearing anything else.

Oh ya and the hat...backwards only right? Always :)

I was driving down Jewell once and out of the corner of my eye saw a blue jacket with beige arms, and was like "man, that sure looks like World's Jacket!" and sure enough it was Bear! lol
