I've been trying to think of way to give back for awhile and this came to me at the right time. Masha's sister Rachel asked me to help raise money for her project....

One of five Nicaraguans live in a condition of extreme poverty, with 76% of the population living on less than $2 a day. Families living on the outskirts of Nicaragua's capital, Managua, are disproportionately affected by poverty, insufficient educational opportunities, poor health and malnutrition, and lack of livelihood opportunities. Manna Project International (MPI) is a non profit organization focused on providing health, education, and livelihood opportunities for these underserved communities. MPI operates 16 programs like two low-cost health clinics, a child sponsorship nutrition program, boys and girls health classes in public schools, as well as English classes just to name a few. MPI has been active in these communities since 2004 with the holistic goal to tackle to issues of rare financial advancements, widespread education deficiency, preventable health illnesses and the self-perpetuating cycle of poverty all through a key focus on relationship building. While the Nicaraguan government provides little attention or support to these communities due to a perception that solutions to these problems do not exist, MPI has proven results that headway can be made through continued investment and long-term commitment. We'll be donating all the money collected from the tournament and I'll be adding money personally (and any other personal donations will be accepted) to the Manna Project.

We will have alternate prizes for the winners and runner ups (maybe). But everyone will be a winner because you'll leave with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside knowing you helped people in need, all while having fun.

Be at Fat Cat (75 Christopher St, New York, NY 10014) by 7:30pm. $5 donation to enter. Everyone is encouraged to come, except those expecting a financial return.

Thanks.

I'll work on figuring out the format... but I think reverse roto will be involved.

Came up with a brilliant idea to help raise funds.

This will be completely optional, if you want to optionally donate extra you MIGHT get a chance to Pick Your Partner. Highest optional donation gets to pick first, there's a chance you might be picked even if you donate so be aware of that you might lose your pick (while your money has already been donated), sorry. Next highest optional donation, who hasn't been picked, gets to pick next. Etc. Until all people who optionally donated have picked.

The $5 entry is not included in the optional donation.

After all picks are done, the remaining players will be drawn up in a Draw Your Partner (DYP)

Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

All are welcome to participate.

What a turn out!! I want to thank everybody for making this an incredibly successful charity event. I think everybody had fun, I know I did. And we raised a ton of money for the Manna Project, more than I imagined, so thank you everybody.

Reverse roto, is an interesting format. It definitely put a new spin on the game.
