Calling all foosers! Rockin R's new tourney - Monday No 2 Pro DYP plus Invitational starting 12/19 at 8pm. This Monday will have a garaunteed $100 add. The owner of the Rockin' R Bar is loving what we're doing there, and have offered to chip in 50% of the pot for another night. That night will be Monday, and we have decided on making this a No 2 Pro Draw Your Partner. We think this format will encourage lower ranked players as well as make the tourney more balanced as the bracket will be seeded by the pros. In addition to the $5 entry, we will also be collecting $1 per person extra that will go towards a special Invitational only DYP in a few months. If we average 13 teams, in four months, we could have a $1,000 DYP that will payout ($1 entries + $10 entry for the tourney + Bar add) DEEP (not top heavy) to reward all the loyal players. This is will be an INVITE ONLY event like the ones that Davin used to run up in Boulder that had all the non-invitees jealous and mad they didn't show up more often. We're looking into a few things still, like how much a player needs to attend in order to get invited (50% is most likely). Also, we're deciding on letting the Friday BYP players pitch in the $1 to allow for a bigger Invitational, but that's still in discussion. I think it would be a great idea since we have strong out of town players who can't make the trip twice a week. Sign ups will close at 8pm SHARP! With 4 tables, and enforced recalls, we should get finished around midnight on a weeknight - not too bad. This new Draw Your Partner will begin this Monday, 12/19 at 8:00 with a GUARANTEED $100 ADD. Keep that in mind when ordering food and drinks there...the Rockin R is helping us out with this new night, because we bring in $$$...let's keep returning the favor. My vote is A/B draw with local points started for this specific tourney to make it easy.
A/B is much more likely to draw in more inexperienced than just no 2 pro.
Besides how many actual ranked "pros" do we have that play in the weeklys often??
Answer: not many cus the ranking system sucks. I can think of Kane and Rudnicki only. So no two pro seems irrelevant.
Possible other options: No two Expert

Also Davina invitational if I remember correctly was based on attendance and winning?! So if you won enough you didn't have to how up all the time to keep your spot I believe.

I like it just based on attendance (40 - 50%). I also would like that we combine it with the BYP somehow so players every tourney can qualify. Like...the Castle Rock and Springs crew are a strong force up here, it would be good to let them qualify on Fridays for the Invitational. there's definitely a lot of pros... I'm pretty sure Davin's was based off of attendance only not results. I think Sheri ran something at America's that gave extra points for results.
