Well, I know Jim is smart enough not to be on Facebook, but I guess the gist of Mary's post was that the use and/or sale of NARCOTICS will not be tolerated. And if someone is suspected of engaging in said activity, they will be subject to a drug test (I doubt it), and some sort of punishment (more likely).
I'm no drug expert, but I'm pretty sure alcohol and weed aren't considered narcotics. I also don't know what prompted her vague announcement, but I'm GUESSING there must have been some specific incidents...who knows, maybe some cops, hotel managers, or other people of authority got pissed about something. Just a guess.
Anyway, I know this vague announcement pissed off some people who are concerned about prescription drugs or something...but I'm GUESSING this announcement is directed at people who have already established a reputation. Who these people are? I have no idea. I just like to play foosball and talk trash to people like Josh.

I want to be a fly in the room when someone has to go take a drug test for a foosball tournament. "Is this for a job? No, it's for a foosball tournament, serious shit." ha ha

Well, she ended up taking her post down. I see where she's coming from in not wanting people to go around promoting the use of illegal drugs. She has a lot on the line in booking the hotels and all the other expenses of hosting a tournament; not to mention this has become a family sport and there are children around who do not need to be exposed to the uglier side of life at these things. But she was not very careful or clear in her word choice that things definitely got out of hand. What else is to be expected though when there was no explanation for the abrupt post?
In my opinion, she should've handled the issue with the person/people directly involved rather than make a blanket statement and get everyone riled up.
I hope the person(s) that this all pertained to does get the help they need. I hate to see my friends go down the hole of substance abuse.

There was nothing more humiliating to me than a random drug test in the construction trade and I didn't have to worry about failing one. Remember your privacy rights! |
