1st Pimp/Cory Jensen
2nd Cory/Ray
3rd Kid/Baller

Brutal teams as always! Great battles all.

Bummed about having to kick Juan and crew out. I'm going to talk with management and see what I can work out on this. You've been there every week through thick and thin and I appreciate it. Hopefully I can get something done.

Hahaha I was there and I didn't see 20 teams? LOL

Yeah that's to bad about the kids not be able to play.

I'm going to throw this out there also... I'm not a big fan of the double draw of a player either. I think the last person to sign up shouldn't play or the TD sits out. I know they both suck but the double draw really sucks! Look at it this way. You have one good player and one average player and they have to play singles to decide the match? Doesn't seem very fair to me. What if one those players doesn't play or want to play singles? I mean their at a draw not a singles tourney! Just my thoughts

Hah ... 10 teams not 20

I can see both sides of the argument with the singles side of it. I will say Ray played fucking awesome in that match. Pushing Pimp to meatnut? Hell yea.

I think either way there's going to be something not fair. Kind of one of those what's the most fair unfair choices. I'd say the best scenario would be the TD sitting out on odd man, but for me that f'n blows. Guess I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't.

Believe me I understand by sides of it for sure.

What if Ray was a beginner and it was his first tournament ever?

I'm with ya. Although that's a super tough tourney for a first timer no matter what. Maybe you all should start sucking a little and make it noob friendly!!! lol

I'm going to go with a no double play position. Keep the tourney moving as quickly as possible and not have a possible issue for anyone, regardless of skill.

Either that or could go with last man to sign up is iron man and plays single all night if they want to? I know they run it like that at a few spots in other states and they enjoy it.

Thoughts?

A beginner that took second place at his/her first tourney would be elated.

You could "what if" this to death.

Not letting the last player to sign up is definitely NOT the answer.
"What if" the player flew in from Texas, caught a ride to the tourney, was there before sign ups close?

I think AK made the right decision. It was the lesser of three evils.
Chances are low that the double drawn player will win top of winners and top of loser's.
If the TD wants to play, they should. They set up a place to play, give up a night every week, and want to rumble as bad as the next player.

"What if" you had sucked it up and won top of loser's?
We wouldn't have this problem now would we??? Ha!!!!

In the Springs, we have had the scenario where there are an odd number of players in a DYP, and it is easily resolved. The last player to sign up is the "X man". The X man has to wait to play his first match, because he doesn't have a partner yet. (The first team to face off against the X man has to wait too.) The bracket is played in a slightly different order than usual, so one team is eliminated before playing the rest of the winners bracket matches. The two eliminated players flip a coin, and whoever wins the toss "comes alive again" and is paired with the X man. From there the tournament proceeds as normal.

This approach gives a slight disadvantage to the X man, because he is likely to get a weak partner (someone who just lost two matches in a row). That's the cost he pays for being the last to show up. But it lets everyone play, while keeping the same tournament format.

Have done this format before and it's worked. Honestly there's no way to please everyone in every situation. One of those spots where you make a decision and live with it.

If you're scared to play someone better than you, go play an easy as shit to master game like pool....just sayin. If you don't like AK's format, go play at the balloon, enjoy the 3 team competition.

This is how we do it up here. Eliminate a team asap, so one of the players can get back in as the odd man's partner.

I really hope your not talkin to me about being scared of competition? if you are suck it! Do you think people want to go play weak your competition tournaments? My tournament has been pulling in 20+ teams from last few months! With a lot of the best players in the state there. It wasn't a fucking format question people go to DYP's to play doubles plain and simple.
