12 teams

1 - Roger/BJ
2 - Costello/Lyons
3 - Acuna/Clay

Thank you BC's for hosting the country's baddest tourney for a few years....sorry you couldn't control your customers and need to blame all the foosers...peace out.

Brian - lol...you're funny.

Stay tuned for details on the new location.

Oh man, I wanna hear the story. Did some wench hang out by the jukebox again? Did an aggressive waitress try to take Costello's water? Did Joey and Gym start a fight?

Joey doesn't want any of this!
It was me and Jim Davis because there can only be one Jim.

I'm gonna miss all of you. :-(

Well Nick was close. I'm not going to post the story....for now. lol.

But bottom line is 2 things:

1 - The new owners of the bar didn't really treat us like they wanted us there to begin with. On top of that, they let go of the really good, nice bartenders in exchange for rude, slow ones...and then jacked up prices. This hurt their business and caused a riff between us and them from day 1.

And then they let go of the badass Grizzly bear Bouncer who would handle shit, in exchange for a big nice guy who let people get out of control...and then they blame us. All I can do is take care of the tourney...not bounce foosers once they get out of control. If they would have handled things like it needed to be handled on their end, none of last night would have happened.

2 - Shout out to all "troublemakers" - see what happens when bar owners get fed up with foosers! Jesus effing christ...STOP CAUSING A SCENE!! Last night was a culmination of ALL of the dumbass antics from everyone who likes to embarrass themselves and us as a group. My fault for not stepping up sooner as a TD to end things, but I don't like being a dick to my friends...but if that's what's going to have to happen, then I guess that's what's going to have to happen. We're not going to let 3 or 4 foosers ruin things for everyone else on or off the table. No more scenes...no more jarring bullies...no more cheating...More on this later.

Why don't you just ban these guys before they make a scene and piss off the owners of whatever place we have to find next. There are enough players that will show up. Half the time these assholes just intimidate new players anyway. How are we going to grow our player base when no one wants to or has a place to play? How many venues do we have to lose before we figure something out. I used to love getting out and playing every Friday but it got to the point where it was more of a hassle to deal with the drama and it stopped being fun. So I take a break. Then when I decide to come out again it's the same drama and bullshit. Aren't we all adults. People need to grow the fuck up.

I don't disagree with that, and as long as foos is played in bars, especially white trash bars, that element will be there.
However, I think we need more specific details on this before we start giving general opinions.

Brad nailed it!
It quit being fun for me as well. 500 miles $100.00+ in gas no thanks.
The constant poor sportsmanship reflects terribly on the game.

Foos tourneys remind me of being in a rock band.

The bar hires you, you bring in your fans, and if you do the bar well they will have you back. If your band "fans" or any member of the band screws up, you're not welcome back usually, and you will also have a bad reputation for not being professional. Which makes it harder to find a venue to play in every time moving forward. .

Too often a few people ruin it for everyone else, and too often everyone else won't speak up.

Here, I got one-

I don't think it should totally be up to the bar to intervene when drama is going down. So basically, (metaphorically) its like those little towns in the western movies, when the cowboys roll in, and everyone is closing shutters and running inside. Then they laugh, drink, and pistol whip the whole town, while the sheriff peeks through a window, and hopes for the best.

If there's nothing enforced, why would the cowboys stroll in, tipping their hats and being pleasant. They should burn through that fucking town, firing guns, drinking and breaking shit. Because it will get "cleaned up" for a repeat performance the next week.

Just recently there was drama there, and on the board it was lol's and hee hee's and y'all need to make up. So basically, every single week for the last month there was drama- but let's talk about how the waitresses are slow, the ownership is different, the cool bouncer is gone... Pfft.

Wonder what new bar, if any, will be the place to watch the cowboys roll in and smash shit weekly with no rules.

I don't think anyone has ever answered this question for me:

Why can't foos tourneys be held at a place like Dave & Buster's or Brunswick Zone XL?

Will they not even agree to talk with a foosball TD? Will they not agree to kick in to the pot? Are we too embarrassed to bring in our normal foosball riff raff?

Let's just say that Dave and Buster's agreed to give us a try for 3 months...
There might be rules, maybe a dress code, a behavior code.
So what?
So certain types of people would gradually fade away from the foos scene, right?
So what?
It could be like the Meisterbergers fading out of Sombertown.
Maybe there would be a paradigm shift over the next year...younger players might join the scene, with their spongy brains soaking up proper foos techniques quickly. Maybe I could actually bring my kid to these things in a couple years.
Why do we have to stay with the status quo? Is there some requirement that the foosball community has to include drugs, alcohol, fighting and heavy profanity? Fuck that.

I don't disagree with this, but I have a few comments on that:

- I have been playing for around 20 years, and we are a family. It's hard as a TD to punish friends. It's not fun having to forfeit teams (your friends) and run things like a tour stop. I enjoy letting people be themselves.

- That said...I'm done entertaining BS. Not just tantrums and scenes, but cheating and jarring as well. This is a turnoff to everyone.

If you don't know what a jar is, or don't think you're jarring...ask any one of the 30 other players there who do. lol If you can't control your jarring, or a race defense that smashes into the wall...then you can just go back to your home sessions until you do.

- I said there's no reason for pros and tour players to call refs...but I didn't mean we won't handle BS when it goes down. (Pat, you're right to an extent). If you think your opponent is jarring, come let me know, and we'll just assign a jar ref to fix it real fast. Loss of possession, loss of possession, technical.

If you don't speak up when it's happening, then don't complain to me after the match.

- In addition to on the table play...off the table behavior is now going to be dealt with. If you're an asshole to people at the bar - you're done for the night. If I hear you made some super crude comment to a non-foosing bar customer - you can take a break until you apologize to that person. lol...I hate to be a parent scolding his kid, but seriously...some people are making us look REALLY bad.

It's very easy - treat bar customers and employees with RESPECT and kindness.

- This post is NOT directed at any one person. I'm sure some people think I'm talking shit to them online, but please know that this is directed to EVERYONE. I had multiple people tell me today that some of our foosers said some pretty shitty things to/about them at BC's. And these "foosers" are not foosers that have a reputation for doing that, so I was surprised...this has nothing to do with last night. I'm not going to go to each of you in person one by one to talk about how to be a mature adult.

Okay, so I'm sure there's been a covert mission to find the next fools...er...place to host our tourneys. What's the story? Will we have somewhere to play in a week or two?

Oh, I missed that post-

Newsflash everyone, its everybody that has said anything to anyones fault. Let's pass out the participation ribbons and have a POLITICALLY CORRECT party. Nothing to see here. All one big happy family straight down the toilet to nofoosville.

That'll fix'er

*edit* I actually DONT blame X for the disclaimer- like he wants someone in his face, threatening to fight or put him in an ambulance.

I heard the oriental will host the next weekly tourney. In tombstone. Wyatt Earp-less, no doubt.

Well that sucks. Thanks in advance to whoever gets a replacement figured out.

On a more positive note -

Roger/Bruce owned BC's!
Anyone notice that Jorge is dominating the CO foos scene for the past few months.
Last year Dave dominated - LOL - but he did show that he could come in and make BC's his bitch - LOL.
Now it's Jorge. What's impressive is that Jorge is getting it done no matter who the fuck his partner is.
Was the competition better at BC's - probably - but did I see right that Roger/Bruce went up to Bob's and finished 7th a couple weeks ago???
