Apparently the best time to call a ref is at the begging of each match to ensure a fair game. Without fail at each big tour event I've played, there's always someone like scott who doesn't know the rules breaks the rules then tells you to fuck off about it. If the players are expected to govern themselves, they should also be expected to know the rules. Thats not a good sysem. I'd like to have 2 refs reffing at each table always. One to keep time and one to pay attention to what's going on. 1 ref can't do both.

Here's the rule Mark:

23.2.2 Once the ball has touched the wall or side strip, it will not be counted as
hitting the wall again until it has rolled off the side strip or is sufficiently
maneuvered away from the wall if there is no side strip present and the ball
has come to rest against the wall.


To me, it agrees with my way of thinking, as the ball was stuck on the wall on the second bounce.

But I will say there is definitely some wiggle room on the interpretation...so I can see how you see it.

Regardless, there's no justification for acting how you did, and still continue to. So if you lose one call, you think it's okay to start cheating your ass off, and lift the table?

Two wrongs don't make a right. Man up and play the game the way it's meant to be played. I let calls go all the time because bickering for 10 minutes over "was that a jar?" would cause the tourney to stall. We all jar or reset here and there, and it all evens out...no harm no foul.

If it was meat nut, and the "infraction" was more blatant...yeah...let's stop the game and discuss what happened. But to meltdown and cheat and throw a tantrum for the whole game because of the first ball...that's ridiculous.

I remember you calling a ref in our PS match, and David Vick came over to watch us go 100% on each other for 3 games, and he didn't make one call. I reffed a finals 2 weeks ago, and made no calls because everyone was playing fair. Maybe you should start reffing matches, so you know what it's like to have to baby sit players who already know the rules. It's weak. When a ref is at the table, people play fair. If you want to call refs all day long, have at it, but BC's is not state. We're not going to hold up the tourney with refs because pros can't play nice.

Any of you guys remember the "do you cheat" thread I ran on the Texas Board? I came to the conclusion that everyone gets cheated, but no one cheats. Now we all know that is impossible.

Walter, this is foosball, not a 3 hour, 9 inning game within a 165 game season.

No offense to Rogers Hornsby, but anyone proud of being a cheater, or calling it normal, should have their integrity questioned. That's like Lance Armstrong saying doping was ok, because everyone else was doing it too.

I'm ok with Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire taking PED's...just admit it. Heck, I'm okay with people jarring the table and lifting it up...just admit you're being a cheating dickhead. lol Don't lie about it.

I think your basic premise is correct - we all inadvertently break the rules here and there. But you have two types of people. Those who accept/make the call, and those who don't. Those who play fair, and those who don't. Maybe you just think it's normal because only a few people do it? What if everyone in the tournament room was lifting up the table, making false calls, etc? It would kill the sport immediately...it's just not fun that way.

And no....one doesn't get credit for playing fair MOST of the time. lol. "Hey, I don't beat my wife...most of the time!"

Thanks Scott for you rule explination earlier . Your ball came off the strip 3 times. Hense 3 walls. Rule infraction. And I would say the way you handled it afterword makes you a cheater.
