So here's my idea for a specialty event at BC's. It will be very much like The Ultimate Fighter on SpikeTV.

The two top rated players in the room will be team captains, and pick players from the sign up sheet.

They will flip a coin to see who picks first.
Whoever does not pick first, will get to set the matchups in the next step.

Team captains match up players.

Round 1:
Team 1 puts his teams on the bracket first (obviously alternating spots)
Team 2 gets to set the match ups however he/she wants.

Round 2:
Whichever team won the most games from round 1, will get to decide matchups for round 2. The team that lost round 1, will set teams in the round 2 spots first.

Teams can be rearranged each round, but only the winning players can stay on the winning side of the bracket.

Round 3 and 4:
Same as round 1 and 2

Loser's Bracket is played out like normal. No one cares about you guys.

Any thoughts? I would think this could be a pretty fun way of playing a nightly tourney. If you keep winning, then your captain gets to strategize how to pair up players for continued success. If you lose, you just play the loser's bracket as usual.

The only downside would be if captains pair up gups together to get rid of dead weight. lol. Also the strategizing part of this might take a few minutes instead of non-stop matches being called.

If anyone wants to improve on this format, post. I'm trying to keep it real simple though. I have talked to some people on this, and most think it would be really fun. Just a few dumbasses who want to cling to BYP. You guys please do not shit all over this thread.

I'm too lazy to try to understand this idea. I will just assume that I will be placed on the 2nd worst team, and will be in the losers bracket soon enough.

Teezy said they do some sort of captains-picking-teams thing in St. Louis. Maybe he can offer input.

Anyway, I will continue to try to show up every Friday and play foosball. We had a nice turnout of 17 teams last week, even without the Co Springs players.

Um...it's exactly like that, and that's what makes it awesome.

No, not this Friday.

I'm aiming for May 29th.

Would really like constructive feedback - i.e. potential problems, improvements, etc.

I would think the feel is like a BYP and DYP combined. You are showing up without a P, but your team captains will assign you a P based on chemistry, and what's best for the team.

What if you and Tommy run it on the 29th as captains, keep it a BYP, once the teams are all signed up, you flip a coin to see who picks teams first and then alternately pick teams. Afterwards you could set up your matchups or to keep it more random you could assign a chip per team, put them in your own bag, and have the opposing captain draw a chip from your bag and you do the same to determine matchups. You could take the winners and losers from that point on and put their chips in the respective winners and losers bags and draw the matchups again to keep it totally random. Just a thought.
