Attention Colorado Foosball players of ALL ability levels:

The Balloon Inn is adding a second foosball tournament to their weekly schedule.

The new tournament will be an OPEN, DRAW-YOUR-PARTNER foosball tournament.

The Open DYP will run on Thursday nights, with a start time of 7:00 p.m.

The FIRST Open DYP will be on Thursday, February 9th, 2017, and we will payout 200% on that date in prizes, to celebrate our opening night.

$5.00 entry fee, 150% payout.

Two well-maintained and well-lighted Tornado Ice Box foosball tables with the coin slots set at $0.75 per game (9 balls per game). Show up early for practice games.

We already have a third table in storage that the bar will allow us to set up if we need an additional table to run the Open DYP.

Immediate table maintenance available, certified referees available, recalls available. We hear you, players.

The Balloon Inn has reasonable drink prices, a good selection of bar food, darts, pool, shuffleboard (best players in the state of Colorado), and foosball.

Doug Wennerstrom
Tournament Director
(720) 412-2719

This sounds like a very interesting tournament. But there's some rule bending mothers up north so I'm curious with a certified officials are?

Did you run this by Christian? He might not be able to make it more than twice a year.

They do? I think Baller moves the tourney every 5 months so that they never hit the 6 month mandatory clean time at a location.

Don't ask how X used tricks of the trade to keep the rods clean and lubed when he ran the tourney.

Thank you for your comments and questions, players.

I ran the scheduling past as many people as I could.

Of course, we want to attract as many players as possible so we put it on the best day of the week that we could, based on a variety of factors.

We need to choose a night when the bar is not already packed. The bar does not want to spend money on promotions on a night that they are already busy. We don't want to step on any other promoter's toes who are already up and running on any given night, if we can avoid it. We want to pick a night that players are available.

Thursday is the night that provides the best current solution to the above parameters.

The certified official at the tournament will be the Tournament Director, Doug Wennerstrom.

Mr. Wennerstrom is a Colorado foosball player, promoter, and referee and has been for almost forty years. Mr Wennerstrom ran the Westminster Pink E's Open DYP for over eight years. Mr. Wennerstrom also ran the Colorado State Foosball Championships (either by himself or with others) for eight years.

Mr. Wennerstrom was originally certified as a referee by Ed McCloud (inventor, holder of numerous patents on the Tornado table, and former manufacturer of the Tornado table) and by Dave Courington (former Tour Director). Mr. Wennerstrom officiated many matches with Charles MacIntosh, who was also a referee at that time. Mr. Wennerstrom was eventually certified as a pro official, and has officiated matches that were worth more than ten thousand dollars in prize money.

Mr Wennerstrom has been re-certified as an official numerous times. The most recent re-certification took place at Colorado State (two or three years ago) when Dan Barber (Cheese) offered an Official's Clinic and Mr. Wennerstrom once again successfully passed the Official's test.

Mr Wennerstrom will communicate with Mr. Barber and with the International Table Soccer Foundation so that he is accurately listed on their website as a current certified official. Other local promoters may also wish to become certified officials.

Mr. Wennerstrom encourages ALL local players and promoters to become certified officials. If any local players are certified, please let me know and I will be happy to have you referee matches as a paid referee. If anyone wants to apply for the job of Head Official, let me know. If players want me to schedule a Referee's Clinic so that more players can be certified as officials, then I will do my best to make that happen.

Come on out on Thursdays and support Colorado Foosball.

If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you. Keep practicing, players.

Does Mr. Wennerstrom know the rules about foreign objects on the paying field and reaching in to the playing field when a ball is not in play? He certainly didn't last year at BC'S.

Does this mean the Monday night players are ready to put their Big Boy pants on? That would be a cool success story.
