I see Paul and Dawa sitting in 5/6-or-better in the Expert Doubles bracket!!!
Still on the winner's side, too!

Just heard they had to forfeit the finals to catch a plane. Too bad.

For those that are interested here is a short write up of my experience.. It was my second big tournament in the US after the worlds in 2008 and the main thing I remembered from back then is that people have a great five bar and well…that they still do. In the beginning I was struggling with the five bar defense but after watching some pro masters defend and making some adjustments things were better. Dawa also did a great job of giving me confidence and kept saying we could win events. I didn’t really know what to think of that but after winning four straight in amateur and expert doubles, I realized Dawa was not just a little crazy, but actually had a point :) In experts doubles we lost to the team that eventually won. It was a strange match. They already called a ref before we started, then called another one, shouted throughout the match and it was not a good experience. Most importantly though, I missed at least 20 shots on the three row, which caused us to lose that match. We were confident though that we could double dip them and worked our way up to the loser bracket final. That match went 1-1, 4-4.. Dawa blocked the shot, but it ricocheted into the goal. It was unfortunate because we really felt we could have won it all. In Amateur doubles we had some close matches as well and eventually lost in winners when playing for fourth or better. Of all people it was a front pin shooter that beat us, who would have thought? In the losers bracket Dawa was strong and we had two convincing wins. With our bags already packed the organizers were so kind to postpone our ride to the airport so we could play one more match. This time we beat the front pin and made it to the finals, which we had to forfeit because of our flight. Overall, it was a great experience. Fantastic venue, lots of good players, great Fat Cat crew and very well organized. Although Joe was less happy on Sunday after waiting for his first match until 5pm because Maryam was on a great winning streak. He made up for it in Coors Lights. Props to Scott for winning rookies doubles, there were a lot of good rookies out there. Dawa, you got me a little worried with your random hotel room naps right in the middle of the tournament, but big thank you for playing. You were a great partner. Trophies are pretty sick.
I wonder what the Open one looks like.
